Peterhead Sea Cadets will be delivering Christmas Cards to Peterhead addresses for 25p per card. Collections will take place at the Sea Cadets HQ in the Seagate on Friday 2nd December, 7.00pm-9.00pm, Monday 5th - Friday 9th, 7.00pm- 9.00pm, Saturday 10th December, 9.00am - 1.00pm, Monday 12th - Thursday 15th, 1.00pm-3.00pm and 7.00pm-9.00pm. Cards will be delivered on Saturday 17th.

Alan Hutchison, Shapwells, Coopers Brae is delivering Christmas Cards in Longside for a minimum donation of 20p per card. Cards can be dropped off at his address or he will collect if you give him a call on 01779 821449. All proceeds to Cancer Research UK Relay For Life Peterhead.

 

To celebrate the launch of Artventure, a new community culture and arts group, a photography competition is being held in Peterhead with the winning entry being on permanent display in Buchan House. They are looking for photos of a building or boat, wildlife or people, landscape or seascape, artistic or historic. The closing date is 1st February 2017 with a shortlist of 10 images going to a public vote from 20th February and 10th March. Cancer Research UK Relay For Life team, The Cancer Crusaders invite you to Light Up Your Street with candle bags in memory of a loved one this Christmas Eve. The suggested donation is £5.00 per bag. Are you looking to help out your local community? Do you have some spare time? Dial-a-Community Bus are looking for volunteers for a variety of roles including car and bus drivers, passenger assistants, fundraisers, shopmobility assistants and board members. Alzheimer Scotland was recently successful in obtaining a small grant from the “Your Voice Your Choice” Participatory Budgeting, Health and Wellbeing Fund. If you live in the Fraserburgh North area, come along to The Fraserburgh & District Older People's Forum soup & sweet, followed by musical entertainment and raffles, in the St Andrew's Hall, Mid Street from 12 noon and 3.00pm. ** SOLD OUT **

Friday 9th December

Arnold Clark Peterhead Macmillan Coffe Morning from 9.00am - 4.00pm. Pop in for tea, coffee and fancy piece. The staff is hoping to wash as many cars as they can during the day for a suggested donation of £5.00 per car. 100% of the money raised will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Deer Parish Church of Scotland is having a Doric evening with Janary and friends, complete with Doric maestro Gordon Hay and support from local artistes. This takes place in the Kemp Hall Old Deer, at 7.30pm. Entry is £5 which includes a nice cup of tea & shortbread. Raffles will also be on sale during the evening. Raffle donations are very welcome. Proceeds will go to Deer Parish Church of Scotland.

Meethill Primary will hold a Christmas Fayre, organised by the school’s parent council, from 6 – 8pm.  There will be stalls, home bakes, tombola, face-painting, nail art, hook a duck and Santa’s grotto, which is £1.50 per child.  Teas, coffee, mince and apple pies will be served as part of the adults’ £1.50 admission fee.  The event is free for children. 

Saturday 10th December

West Parish Church, The Hexagon, Fraserburgh Christmas Fayre from 11.00am - 4.00pm with craft stands, Kid's Corner and refreshments.Visit Santa in his Grotto, entry is £8.00 per child with discount for families. Local School choirs and entertainment around the Christmas Tree throughout the day.

Sandhaven & Pitullie Public Hall Association Christmas Fair will be held from 1 to 3pm with Santa's Grotto. Admission, which includes tea and juice, is £2 for adults and £1 for children.

The Church of Jesus Christ at Newhills Road, Mintlaw are holding an open day from 9am to 4pm.

Sunday 11th December

A 'Drive-In Movie' showing Christmas movie 'Elf' will be screened at Aden Country Park, Mintlaw. Gates open 3.30pm. Movie at 5pm. Tickets £25 from www.eventbrite.co.uk. Help raise funds for 5 Mintlaw Academy pupils for the World Challenge 2018.

Banff & Buchan Sands will be having their annual Christmas Candlelight Service at the West Parish Church, Fraserburgh at 6pm.

Wednesday 14th December

Banff and District Accordion & Fiddle Club Christmas Dance with The Garioch Blend at Banff Springs Hotel at 7.30pm. For further information, please call 01346 518754.

A carol service will take place at 7pm at the Cruden Bay Congregational Church.

Friday 16th December

Centre Stage Productions present The Christmas Song Book at 7.00pm in the Methodist Church, Peterhead. Tickets, priced at £6.00 which includes tea and mince pie, are available from Genesis and the Trading Post. Proceeds to Teen Challenge Benaiah.

Saturday 17th December

 

Boddam Public Hall is delighted to be hosting Jack and the Beanstalk performed by M&M production company 13.30. Tickets £8 per person and tickets reservations can be made via the Boddam Public Hall Facebook page.

 

Sunday 18th December

To celebrate Christmas, the annual Carols by Candlelight takes place at Apex Church, Chapel Street, Peterhead at 5.00pm and 7.30pm. This year a special offering will be received for the Peterhead Fishermen's Mission. To facilitate both services, free tickets will be required for entry into both services and are available at Apex Church on a Sunday, The Faith Mission Bookshop in Peterhead, by calling 01779 478238 or visit apexchurch.org.uk.

Monday 19th December

Fraserburgh Academy concert in the School Hall. Tickets, priced at £5.00, are available from the music department of at the door on the night.

A Christmas Eve Carol Service will take place at 7pm at the Church of Jesus Christ in Mintlaw. Free entry.

Monday 26th December

Darts competition, in memory of Dave Thomson, at The Masons, Peterhead at 12.30pm for a 1.00pm start. Entry fee is £3.00 and all darts players are welcome, male and female. All proceeds going to The Wavettes, raising cash to help in the fight against cancer.

Saturday 31st December

The Royal British Legion New Pitsligo Branch  Hogmanay party with DJ Hammy from 8.30pm - 1.00am. Tickets, priced at £10.00, are available from The Legion, Gold & Crispy and Webster's Pharmacy. Over 18's only. Call 01771 653766 for details.

Tear Drops support group meet at Cornerstone, 1 Skelton Street, Peterhead every second Thursday from 7 to 9pm (the next meeting was due on 27th October but this has been cancelled. Further announcement TBC shortly) This is a chance for anyone who finds it difficult to cope with the death of their loved ones to meet with others over a cup of tea. If gambling is taking over your life, or that of a loved one or a friend, talk to someone. Meetings are held every Wednesday in the Rescue Hal, Peterhead from 7.30 to 9.30pm. St Andrews Church, Peterhead Carer and Toddler Group meets every Wednesday morning from 10.00-11.30 for anyone with babies to children aged 3. Come along and join in the fun.

"Experiences" Peterhead & District Cancer Support Group welcomes everyone affected by cancer to meetings held every second Wednesday of the month at The Albert Hotel, Queen Street, Peterhead. Lifts can be arranged to the meetings. Call Kathleen on 01779 477693 or Frances on 475936.

Fraserburgh Rugby Club meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 6.30 – 8pm for fitness training which is open to men and women and is free of charge.  The sessions are held at James Ramsay Park.
