Friday, 29 August

A Zumbathon will take place at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre to raise funds for local children with Cancer, in memory of Scott Noble. Doors open at 6.45pm, entry is £7. Please bring water. Everyone welcome, get ready to shake, sweat, wiggle and have a giggle!

Saturday 30th August

Caroline Buchan and Paul Smith have organised an intoxicating tea party in aid of Macmillan, which will take place in the Buchanhaven Hearts Football Social Club from 7pm. Cost is £25 per person which includes cocktails, food and music and entry to the prize raffle. If you are unable to attend donations can be made at justgiving.com/caroline-buchan5. Sandy Neilson will be appearing at Peterhead Masonic Club.

A Night of Entertainment with The Diva & The Drag Queen, Miss Lisa Hepburn & Miss Bobbie Dazzler at Maud Football Club at 8.30pm. Entry is £8.00 with all proceeds going to ARI's Neuro-Surgical Research Fund.

A second hand sale in aid of the Lonmay Hall fund will be held in the Lonmay Village hall from 10am to 2pm. Paperbacks only 50p each.

Rosehearty Community Boat Club is holding an open day.  The club exists to preserve traditional skills associated with boats and to teach people how to sail. 

Sunday, 31 August

Visit the Grampian Transport Museum in Alford as they prepare to welcome Ford fans at their 'Allford' event - a celebration of everything 'Fordie' from 1908 to the present day and is the museums first ever gathering of everything connected with Ford. A show 'n' shine and 'choice of the people' awards will take place. For further details call 019755 62292.

The Willie Park Masonic Golf Tournament is taking place, entry £10, tee times between 11am and 12noon. National handicap golfers only.

Tuesday 2nd September

Enrolment for the 1st Fraserburgh Boys Bridage Anchor Boys and Junior section will take place between 6.30-7.30pm at the Old Parish Church Centre, Barrasgate Road. All boys in Primary 1-6 are welcome to join. They meet weekly on Tuesday evenings.

St. Drostans Church in Old Deer are hosting the 2014 annual lecture - North East Whaling and the Greenland Fishery - by Dr. Martyn Gorman of Aberdeen Uni at 7.30pm. No admission fee, but a collection will be taken. Refreshments in the Kemp Hall afterwards.

Friday, 5 September

The Fraserburgh United Reformed Church are holding a quiz night at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre from 7.30pm. Come along and enjoy a fun night. £10 per table of 4. There will be raffles on sale.

Charity Ceilidh, in aid of Maggie's Centres, at Station Hotel, Ellon at 7.30pm with music from the Ythan Fiddlers. Entry is £10 for adults and £7 for under 14's which includes stovies. Contact Clair Mitchell on 07411 970460 for tickets.

A charity golf open day organised by the Rotary Club of Fraserburgh will take place at the Fraserburgh Golf Club. For tee times call 01346 516616. The competition is an 18 hole stableford, open to ladies, gents and juniors. Entry is £10 for members, £15 for non-members and £5 for juniors.

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland is launching a new Outreach Communication Support Service in the North East to support people who have had a stroke, giving them company and confidence. The services will be available in Deeside, Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Turriff, Inverurie, Stonehaven, Banff, Huntly and Aberdeen City. The Invercairn Gala takes place from the 3rd to the 9th of August with family fun throughout the week. There's something for everyone from a junior disco, a kids treasure trail, strongman competition, it's a knock out competition, bingo, quiz night, a fancy dress parade and live band Splash which is strictly over 16s only. ID required to obtain an over 18s wristband.

Fraserburgh United Reformed Church is holding Summer Teas every Saturday from 10am till 12 noon commencing the 5th of July and ending on the 30th of August. All welcome.

An Art Exhibition by local artist Mike Brown is now on in the Arbuthnot Museum, Peterhead through to 25th August with free entry.

Maggie's Hoosie in Inverallochy opens for the summer season on 16th June right through to 11th September with opening times Monday to Thursday from 2.00pm-4.00pm. Maggie's Hoosie is of both national and local importance and is unique in retaining so much of its original character and is possibly the only one of its kind still existing the the North East. The Grampian Transport Museum in Alford has some exciting new exhibits to view this year. Check out the exhibition to mark the 50th anniversary of the Great Train Robbery with two of the original vehicles used on the night of the robbery on show. There is also a stunning state of the art HGV simulator, using high definition graphics. Grampian Transport Museum - well worth a visit.                       

CLAN - Cancer Link Aberdeen North - offers support through its outreach facilties in Peterhead and Fraserburgh. They are in Fraserburgh at the HUB on a Monday from 10-4pm. Then in Peterhead on a Wedenesday and a Friday at the Hotspot on Kirk Street, Peterhead again from 10-4pm. This is a free service to everyone affected by cancer and provides emotional support, complementary therapies, children and family services and cancer information. The Breastfeeding support group takes place at Peterhead Maternity Unit every Thursday from 1.30pm-3.00pm. This is an informal group/drop in where advice and support are given with many lifelong friendships made. Come along and enjoy the social aspects of the group. The midwives and breastfeeding volunteers extend a warm welcome.

There will be a weekly nightcap at the Fisherman's Mission on Union Street, Peterhead on Sunday at 8pm, as well as a weekly Ladies Guild every Tuesday from 7.15pm.

Choices Fraserburgh is a crisis pregnancy centre where women and their families can go to obtain free, impartial advice following an unplanned pregnancy. Advice and support is also offered following the loss of a baby.
