Miles of Pennies
NOW OVER 15 MILES
A massive thank-you to everyone who has donated pennies to our Cancer Research UK Relay For Life mile of pennies appeal. We have now reached our £10,000 total which is equal to 12.63 miles - Peterhead to Toll O' Birness. We intend to keep collecting your pennies to help in the fight agains cancer and are now heading to Ellon so keep the coins rolling in.
Remember - your small change can make a big difference.
Saturday 19th August
A Dance in aid of the Fraserburgh Sea Cadets is being held at the Clansman in Fraserburgh from 7.30pm to 12.30am. £5 for tickets, children welcome.

MACBI in Mintlaw will host a Fun Day and Road Safety Event from 10am – 4pm. Heart Start Scotland will be in attendance along with Scottish Ambulance 1st Responders, Police and the fire service. There will also be inflatables for children and whizz kidz balance bikes.
A Soup and Sweet will be held at the Mission Café, Peterhead on Saturday from 12-3pm.
Sunday 20th August
The Fraserburgh Cats Protection Annual Pet Show will take place at Fraserburgh Leisure Centre. Cat Show and Small animals entries at 09:30. Dog Show entries from 1 pm. Tables available for crafters at a cost of £10 for the day, if interested in a stall please email firstname.lastname@example.org, or telephone 07866 250793.

Local charity Strichen Community Park are holding their annual Fun Day from 1-4pm. Attractions include a dog show, whisky wheel, raffle, bouncy castles, burgers, ice cream and various stalls. There will be live music from SHiNDiG and entry is free. Raffle donations would be most welcome.
The Macduff Lifeboat Station Gala Day will be held in the town’s harbour and fishmarket. Raising vital funds for the RNLI, the event will include four lifeboats, which visitors can tour. There will also be a visit from the Coastguard search & rescue helicopter, live music and a BBQ.
Tuesday 22nd August
The Fraserburgh Junior Arts Society's Pantomime auditions for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be held at the Dalrymple Hall and Arts Centre, Fraserburgh at 7.30pm. Academy age and up only.
Wednesday 23rd August
As part of Banff & District Accordion and Fiddle Club's summer activities, McBains Dance Band will be playing at Banff Springs Hotel at 7.30pm.
Saturday 26th August
A Tartan Ball, to help raise funds to bring an ice rink to Fraserburgh for a weekend in December, will be held at The Ban-Car Hotel, Lonmay on Saturday 26th August at 6.00pm for a 6.30 start. Tickets, priced at £39 which includes reception drink, 3 course meal and dancing to Shindig, are available by calling Rodgers of Fraserburgh on 01346 518540.

Rosehearty Community Boat Club will hold their annual open day from 12 noon to 4pm. Come along and learn about the club and browse the various stalls including a fish stall, BBQ, Bouncy Castle and lots more. Funds raised will go towards a new club house complete with showers and a workshop.
A gigantic fun day will be held at the Old Parish Church Centre, Barrasgate Road, Fraserburgh from 10am to 3pm with stalls, face painting, butteries, bbq and lots more including fun games and prizes.

A Charity Golf Texas Scramble will be held at The Fraserbugh Golf Club and is open to Ladies, Gents and Juniors. Entry £40 per team of 3 or 4. St. Drostan’s Episcopal Church in Old Deer are hosting the 2017 annual lecture presented by Derek Jennings in the Church at 7.30pm. Entry is free but donations for Church funds are welcome.

Buckie presentes It's A Knock Out - the annual charity event at Linzee Gordon Park, Buckie. Team Challenge Company presenting wet & foamy inflatable obsticle courses and field events. Junior games from 10am-1pm. Adults 2-5pm. Free entry. Massed pipe bands playing throughout the day, Tod Mathieson School of Dance, Local singer Calum Jones, Lossie Gymnastics Club. A fundraising event in aid of Motor Neuron Disease will be held from 12 to 3pm at the Peterhead Rescue Hall. Come along for a chat and a cup of tea with face painting and raffles.

Songs of Praise with the Salvation Army Band will be held at 2.30pm in the Congregational Church in Cruden Bay. Come along for a cup of Tea or Coffee, and a fine piece after the service.

Come along to the ‘Celebrating The Difference’ event from 12 noon to 3pm the North East Scotland College Fraserburgh Campus. This is a free public event of entertainment, fun and food from around the world bringing together people with disabilities and the international community.
Monday 25th September
A prize bingo will be held at the Old Parish Church Centre, Barrasgate Road, Fraserburgh with eyes down at 7.30pm (doors at 6.45pm). All welcome, children under 14 years welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
Saturday 7th October
The Broch’s Got Talent auditions due to be held on the 12th August have been rescheduled to the 7th of October at 6pm in the Dalrymple Hall. For everyone interested in this event please get your application forms in as soon as possible and before the 30th September 2017. Mintlaw Surgery are running flu clinics everyday, including Wednesday evenings throughout October. Don’t delay, make your appointment today by calling the Surgery on 01771 624070. All patients over 65 and patients under 65 who suffer from diabetes, asthma, kidney or chronic liver disease, chronic heart or chest complaints, stroke and epilepsy should receive a flu vaccination.
A Book sale will be held at the All Saints Church Hall, North Street, Strichen from Saturday 5th to Saturday the 12th of August. Open Saturdays 10am-4pm, Closed on Sunday and open Weekdays 11am-6.30pm. Funds raised in aid on on-going church repairs and also for the Strichen Playschool.
Deer Parish Church, Old Deer are appealing for ‘nearly new’ clothing & accessories for a Fashion Show to be held in Mid September. Any clothing in good condition will be gratefully accepted. The Maud Singing Group is a group of local people who have a weekly get together and they are looking for some new people to join. They meet every Monday from 11.30am to 12.30pm at the Maud Resource Centre. A keyboard player is also needed. Call 01771 613962 for more details.
The Fraserburgh Heritage Centre is a hands-on family-friendly Museum and is a great place to spend an afternoon having fun and learning about the past at the same time. There’s a gift shop with local goods and crafts and children’s pocket money toys. Open… Monday to Saturday from 11am to 4pm and on Sundays from 12 noon to 4pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Maggie's Hoosie is open for its 20th summer season and has recently been refurbished. Take a stroll along the shore with the Golf Course at one end and the Marina at the other. There is also seating and picnic facilities to enjoy. Maggie's Hoosie is open Monday - Thursday from 2.00pm-4.00pm. Call 01346 514761 for appointments at other times.
Weekly buttery mornings hosted by Willowbank will be held at the Buchanhaven Heritage Centre on Tuesdays from 10am to 12pm. Butteries are just a pound and tea or coffee is only 50p. Funds raised go towards the Heritage Centre.
St. John’s Church in Longside are holding their annual Book Sale from Saturday 1st July for two weeks. Opening times on Saturdays are from 10am to 4pm and on weekdays it’s open from 2 to 8pm. Closed on Sundays.
Fraserburgh United Reformed Church are holding Buttery Mornings every Saturday in the Macaulay Hall, Mid Street, during July and August from 10am till noon.
Aberdeenshire Council is offering Summer Holiday Camps across the area running in various towns on various weeks from 3rd of July through to the 18th of August. The camps are for children aged between 5 to 14 years old and further details on locations, dates and bookings can be found here.
Macmillan Cancer Support and Aberdeenshire Council have teamed up to help people affected by cancer keep active and move more. They are looking for volunteers in Peterhead and Fraserburgh to help with this exciting initiative. They require Walk Leaders, Circuit Support Assistants, Garden Volunteers and Gentle Movement Volunteers. Could you spare 1 hour a week to make a life changing difference to a young persons future? Befriend a Child are looking to recruit volunteer mentors in Banff, Fraserburgh & Peterhead to be matched with a young person at a local Secondary School. Mentors support a young person to re-engage with education if, for whatever reason, they are not attending school or are in a cycle of exclusions. In addition mentors encourage their young person to think about their future pathway to a positive destination: higher/further education or employment. A new support group “It’s All About Me” for sufferers of M.E & F.M Chronic Fatigue Syndrome meets at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre (Lounge Area).
