"Think Pink" at Macbi Community Hub, Mintlaw in aid of Breast Cancer Research at Aberdeen University Development Trust. This is a weekend of exercise to raise funds for this important charity. To find out more, call 01771 624593 or pop into Macbi.

Local antique dealers valuation and buying days at the Old Parish Church, Peterhead today and tomorrow from 10.00am - 4.00pm. Get along to have your old and interesting items valued. A donation to the Peterhead New Parish Church will be collected at the door.

Saturday 1st October

The Fraserburgh Police Scotland Youth Volunteers are holding a buttery morning in the St. Andrews hall, Mid Street, Fraserburgh from 10am to 2pm. Entry is £2 for adults and it's free for under 5s. Funds raised will be donated to The Archie Foundation.

Emma Walker is hosting a fundraising "Forget Me Not" dance, in aid of Alzheimers Scotland, in the Palace Hotel at 8.00pm with great music from Altitude and fantastic raffle prizes including a Knockhill Driving Experience and a Beauty Package & Spa Day for two. Tickets, priced at £25 which includes a hot buffet, are avialable by calling Emma on 07879 428889. Wear something purple and have a great night for Emma, her family and all who are affected by Alzheimers.

The 3rd Sandy Thain Memorial Tractor & Classic Vintage Road Run leaving The Royal British Legion, Strichen at 10.30am and returning via Fraserburgh, Sandhaven, Rosehearty, New Aberdour and New Pitsligo. Light Up Peterhead are holding a prize bingo at the Palace Hotel. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. Entry is £2 for adults and £1 for children and concessions. All proceeds will be going to the Light Up Peterhead fund to illuminate Peterhead this Christmas.

It's not easy giving up a beloved dog. How do you know it's going to a good home? Local re-homing charity DAWGS - Dog Action Working Group Scotland - can help. Based in Aberdeen, DAWGS finds great new homes throughout the North East for dogs whose owners can no longer take care of them - and it's a simple and confidential procedure. We arrange to meet you, find about your dog and then put him on our website. There is a £ 5 registration fee. We always check all applicants, match for compatibility and even carry out home and checks to find the perfect, loving home. If possible we would ask you to keep your dog until we have found a match but we do have kennels for emergency situations. The community social group in New Pitsligo is aimed at all ages and hosts 'Claik and Cake' each Friday from 10am to 12pm in the St. John's Centre, High Street. Entry is by donations only for a cuppa and biscuit or cake.

The RNLI Shop in Fraserburgh is now open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 11.00am - 3.00pm and Sunday from 11.30am - 3.00pm. New stock has now arrived.

Call for Volunteers! Peterhead Shopmobility is looking for volunteers to help lend wheelchairs, scooters and walking aids to members of the public with limited mobility enabling them to get out and about. The office is open from Monday – Saturday from 10.00am until 1.00pm. We are looking for volunteers to donate their time for these hours one day per week. Tear Drops support group meet at Cornerstone, 1 Skelton Street, Peterhead every second Thursday from 7 to 9pm (4th August 2016). This is a chance for anyone who finds it difficult to cope with the death of their loved ones to meet with others over a cup of tea. See their Facebook page for more detais.
