Mile of Pennies
EQUIVALENT TO 12.63 MILES
A massive thank-you to everyone who has donated pennies to our Cancer Research UK Relay For Life mile of pennies appeal. We have now reached our £10,000 total which is equal to 12.63 miles - Peterhead to Toll O' Birness. We intend to keep collecting your pennies to help in the fight agains cancer and are now heading to Ellon so keep the coins rolling in.
Remember - your small change can make a big difference.
Peterhead Scottish Week is delighted to announce that they are now accepting nominations for the Buchan Queen Competition 2017. They are looking for someone with that 'special sparkle' and are sure you know the perfect girl? Judging will take place at the Waterside Inn on 3rd June at 7pm. The Fraserburgh and District Older People's Forum are holding a Spring Concert, with afternoon tea, raffles and entertainment from 2 till 4pm at the St. Andrews Hall. Relay For Life Team "The Cancer Crusaders" charity horse racing night at The Sands Bar, Peterhead at 7.00pm. Entry is £2.00 payable at the door. All proceeds to Cancer Research UK.

The Fraserburgh Bluelight Festival will take place at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre for a 12.30pm start. All emergency services will be present with a variety of demonstrations and various stalls. Come along for a fun day out for all the family.

As part of Aberdeenshire Wellbeing Festival and Mental Health Week being held from 8th - 14th May, The Wellbeing Factor takes place at Loopty Lou's, Boddam from 3.00pm-5.00pm. The Ythan Fiddlers Annual Rally will be held in Haddo House Hall at 7.30pm with guests including Fiddlers Jenny Smith and Janet Lees accompanied by Robbie Leask on guitar, dancers Rachel Havlin and Amy Robertson, Compere Gladys Thomson and conductor Nicola Auchnie. The Junior fiddlers will also play and the Haddo Arts Trust trophy will be presented. A Fraserburgh Academy school reunion class of 1983 will be held at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre. Tickets are £10 which includes stovies and a disco. Tickets are available from the corner shop on School Street.
Monday 12th June
An inflatable fun day in aid of ‘Taking Jamie Home’ will be held in the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre (Broch Holiday) from 11am to 3pm. Entry is £7 per child for a days access. All money will go towards the fund for Jamie who is now severely brain damaged following a RTA in January 2016. Funds will contribute towards buying a suitable home for the family.
Y.S.I.S (Why Suffer In Silence) is Support Group for Depression, Anxiety and Mental Health and meets weekly on Friday evenings at the JIC Building in Fraserburgh’s Albert Street between 7 and 8.45pm. Drop in for a cup of tea and a chat for free. www.ysis.org.uk

Could you spare 1 hour a week to make a life changing difference to a young persons future? Befriend a Child are looking to recruit volunteer mentors in Banff, Fraserburgh & Peterhead to be matched with a young person at a local Secondary School. Mentors support a young person to re-engage with education if, for whatever reason, they are not attending school or are in a cycle of exclusions. In addition mentors encourage their young person to think about their future pathway to a positive destination: higher/further education or employment. A new support group “It’s All About Me” for sufferers of M.E & F.M Chronic Fatigue Syndrome meets at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre (Lounge Area). The Peterhead Congregational Church in Queen Street is holding daily lunchtime Easter Services this week (Mon-Fri) at 12.30pm. Services last 30 minutes with a finger buffet lunch available. Collections will be in aid of Famine Relief in Africa.

A knitting exhibition hosted by Deer Parish Church is now on-going this week until Sunday (2nd April) from 10am to 4pm and then 6 to 8pm at the Kemp Hall. The display features an impressive large scale village knitted out by volunteers. Entry is by donation. Open hours on Sunday are limited to between 2 and 4pm.
