Friday 19th December

A Christmas Tea Dance will be held at the Buchan Indoor Bowling Club in Mintlaw from 2-4pm.

Saturday 20th December

Sandy Neilson will be appearing at the Masons, Peterhead. Members and guests welcome.

Sunday 21st December

A special ‘Carols by Candlelight Service’ will be held in the Apex Church, Chapel Street, Peterhead from 6pm. All most welcome.

The Peterhead Methodist Church in Queen Street will hold its Nativity from 11am and all are welcome to attend.  Then on the same day, at 6pm, the Christingle and carols will take place.

Wednesday 24th December

Last year, the "Light up your street this Christmas" event raised £735 for Cancer Research Relay for Life, this Christmas Eve the organisers would like as many people as possible to put out the candle bags in memory of the loved ones that are no longer with us. Carol singing with the Salvation Army and special guests will be held at the Peterhead Methodist Church at 11.15pm, and then the following morning there will be a Christmas Day celebration from 11am. 

Saturday 10th January

The Pussycats Team will be hosting a soup & sweet in St Johns Church Hall in Longside, serving between 12:00 and 2:30. All proceeds will go to Relay for Life Peterhead.

If you’re looking to do something different and challenging just after Christmas, then why not sign up for the Fraserburgh Lifeboat Boxing Day Swim.  It’s an annual event, which raises money for the lifesaving RNLI charity.  Hardy souls interested in swimming the 52 metres across the harbour should contact the Fraserburgh lifeboat station on 01346 515162 or email Fraserburgh@rnli.org.uk   You can also visit the Fraserburgh lifeboat facebook page. 

Peterhead and District Roundtable’s Santas will be ‘flying’ around town in their annual Santa collection week from the 1st of December. Every penny donated goes towards local youth projects, charity’s and food parcels.

Joseph Storehouse, your local foodbank issue the following appeal to the North East public. This Christmas please help the community. Everyday, there are people in Peterhead who are forced to make hard choices. Hunger is not always easy to see. Please make a donation to the foodbank, which will be accepted at Morrisons on Saturday the 6th of December from 9am to 5pm.

The Saltoun Surgery in Fraserburgh advise all over 65’s to make an appointment to have a flu jab. Those under 65, with chronic respiratory, heart, kidney, diabetic problems should also make an appointment for their free flu vaccination. 

The Crichie Hogmany Fundraising Party will be held at the Village Hall on Wednesday the 31st of December from 7.30 till late with family games and music and don’t forget to bring you own tipple and nibbles. Tickets on sale from Saturday 1st November at the Village Hall from 11am to 1pm. Funds raised go to local charities.

The League of Friends for Peterhead Hospital are looking for new volunteers to work in the Hospital to work in the Hospital shop. Interested? Call the shop on 01779 482434.

Teardrops is a voluntary group for those who find if difficult to cope after a loved one or best friend has died in tragic circumstances. They meet every Thursday in the Peterhead Community Centre from 7.00pm-9.00pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and have a cuppa and a chat. Lonmay Indoor Bowling Club is inviting bowlers, including beginners, to come along to the village hall every Tuesday at 7pm.  The cost is £2 per session and bowls will be available for use.

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland are launching a new Outreach Communication Support Service in the North East to support people who have had a stroke, giving them company and confidence. The services will be available in Deeside, Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Turriff, Inverurie, Stonehaven, Banff, Huntly and Aberdeen City. CLAN - Cancer Link Aberdeen North - offers support through its outreach facilties in Peterhead and Fraserburgh. They are in Fraserburgh at the HUB on a Monday from 10-4pm. Then in Peterhead on a Wedenesday and a Friday at the Hotspot on Kirk Street, Peterhead again from 10-4pm. This is a free service to everyone affected by cancer and provides emotional support, complementary therapies, children and family services and cancer information. The Breastfeeding support group takes place at Peterhead Maternity Unit every Thursday from 1.30pm-3.00pm. This is an informal group/drop in where advice and support are given with many lifelong friendships made. Come along and enjoy the social aspects of the group. The midwives and breastfeeding volunteers extend a warm welcome.

There will be a weekly nightcap at the Fisherman's Mission on Union Street, Peterhead on Sunday at 8pm, as well as a weekly Ladies Guild every Tuesday from 7.15pm.

Choices Fraserburgh is a crisis pregnancy centre where women and their families can go to obtain free, impartial advice following an unplanned pregnancy. Advice and support is also offered following the loss of a baby.
