Thursday 16th August

To raise funds for Peterhead Boys Club 2007s trip to Barcelona next year, a bingo tea will be held at Peterhead Football Club.  Doors open at 6.30pm with eyes down at 7pm.  Come along and join in for an evening of teas, homebakes, raffles and prizes.  Entry is £2 for adults and £1 for children

Saturday 18th August

Strawberry Tea at Buchanhaven Heritage Centre, Peterhead from 1.00pm - 4.00pm. Entry is £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for kids.

Strichen Gala Committee annual Summer Flower & Produce Show at The Ritchie Hall with Afternoon Tea from 2.00pm - 4.00pm. Entry to the Afternoon Tea and to view the display of entries is £4.00 for adults and £2.00 for under 12's. A Teddy Bears Picnic will be held at New Aberdour Hall (outside - weather permitting) in celebration of the Bi-centenary of New Aberdour Church from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. Bring your Teddy and there will be prizes for Biggest, Smallest and Best Teddy. Attractions include a Bouncy Castle, Temporary Tattoos and decorate and fill a child's picnic bag. AllFord at Alford is a celebration of Ford vehicles throughout the ages and the annual event will be held at Grampian Transport Museum.  2018 is a major anniversary for the Blue Oval – it is 50 years since the launch of the legendary Escort! The Ellon Baptist Church is hosting ‘Inspire’ led by Lynsey Clarke – an evening of worship, fellowship and life experiences with a speech from keynote speaker Catherine Campbell. Admission is free to the event at the Victoria Hall, Ellon. Donations will be accepted towards the work of the ‘Cogwheel Trust International’ providing homes and schooling for children in Uganda.

Aberdeenshire Council is appealing for volunteers to assist with a scheme aimed at improving the literacy and numeracy of adult learners.  The Community Learning and Development programme focuses on reading, writing, counting, ICT, cooking and employability to give people the confidence to participate in society.  Anyone with an interest in helping out should contact Carol Bambrough 07881 838232 or email carol.bambrough@aberdeenshire.gov.uk

The Banff & Buchan Citizens Advice Bureau – a charity in Peterhead and Fraserburgh – is looking to recruit volunteers to work in various roles including receptionist, advisors, administration, form filling and digital support. The Fraserburgh Heritage Centre is now open for the new season, Monday to Saturday 11am to 4pm and on Sundays from 12 to 4pm. Come and see the new display, ‘Panto Time’. Further details are available by calling 01346 512 888. The centre will close on Wednesday the 31st of October.

Peterhead’s Shopmobility scheme, which loans equipment free of charge to people with physical disabilities, is appealing for volunteers.  Shopmobility operates from a portacabin in the Maiden Street Car Park.  If you can spare a few hours, or would like more information, call 01771 691919.

Knitters and crocheters in the local area are invited to get involved in the Peterhead Poppy Project 2018.  The aim is to create an art installation in the town to commemorate the centenary of the end of the 1st World War.  This project is open to people of all ages.  For more information, or to get involved, please contact Nancy Duncan on 07483223087.

Age Peterhead provides a ‘sitter service’ to relieve carers in the immediate local area. Sitters can provide company for short periods of time allowing their family or carers time off to do essential tasks. Usually, sitters are provided by arrangement with Aberdeenshire Social Work Department, but occasionally they can be provided on a private basis. Y Suffer in Silence offer Group Emotional Support, 121 Support and Telephone Support to those suffering from Depression, Anxiety, Stress and Mental Health. A new support group “It’s All About Me” for sufferers of M.E & F.M Chronic Fatigue Syndrome meets at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre (Lounge Area).
