Our 1 and 2p appeal has now reached 3.37 miles. That's 239,300 coins amounting to an amazing £3,404. We would love to reach £4,000 by the time of Cancer Research  UK Realy For Life on 5th and 6th July. So we only need £596 to reach our target. Do you think we can do it? The Waverley Hotel in Peterhead will remain closed till further notice due to a fire in the premises. The public bar on Maiden Street is open as usual with the same opening hours.

The League Of Friends for Peterhead Hospitals is looking for ladies to volunteer in the hospital shop. Call into the shop or phonel Denise on 482434 or Joan on 471737.

The Grampian Transport Museum in Alford has some exciting new exhibits to view this year. Check out the exhibition to mark the 50th anniversary of the Great Train Robbery with two of the original vehicles used on the night of the robbery on show. There is also a stunning state of the art HGV simulator, using high definition graphics. Grampian Transport Museum - well worth a visit.

Adults teams of 10 are being sought for It's A Knockout which takes place in Buckie on 21st June. Proceeds will go to the Teddy Bear development play group and The Lyric theatre group in Buckie. Get along to the Grampian Transport Museum in Alford and enjoy vintage buses from Aberdeen and district transportation preservation unit, with rides around the circuit. Visit gtm.org.uk for further information.

Wednesday 23rd April

The Peterhead Old Parish Church are holding a Daffodil Tea in the Palace Hotel from 7pm. Entertainment will be provided by the Belly Band. Tickets cost £5. All proceeds will go to the Kirk.

Crimond Bowling Green opens at 6.30pm. Old and new members most welcome.

Friday 25th April

The Fraserburgh Lifeboat Fundraising Branch quiz night will take place at 7.30pm.  It’s being held in the Fraserburgh Royal British Legion, with entry £10 per team of four.

Saturday 26th April

The Clan Cancer Support Quiz Night will be held at the Buchanhaven Hearts Club in Peterhead.  Doors will open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start, with entry £10 per team of four.  Raffle donations are welcome.  For tickets, or more information, call Ruth on 07720737500 or Nicola on 07540939360.

Friends of Ythanvale Easter Coffee Morning in the Kirk Centre, Station Road, Ellon from 10.00am - 12 noon. Entry is £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children. All proceeds go directly towards the comfort and enjoyment of the residents of Ythanvale Care Home.

A Roup will take place in the Sandhaven/Pitullie Community Hall. Viewing to take place between 11am and 1pm with the Roup from 1 to 3pm. All funds raised will go towards the roof refurbishment. Call 01346 514221 for further information or to get donations uplifted.

The 14th annual Buchan Vintage Tractor Charity Road Run takes place, leaving from Fetterangus Hall at 10.00am. Their journey continues through Strichen, Lonmay, Riding Hill, Balearn School and back to Fetterangus. Proceeds will go to Clan Cancer Support and Buchan Renal Unit, Peterhead. Friday 2nd May

The Pitfour School Parent Council is holding a Ladies Night at the MACBI Community Hub in Mintlaw from 7 to 9pm. Tickets, costing £5, are available from the Pitfour Primary School office or pay on the night.

A charity concert with the Deveron Singers in aid of Parkinson's and Grampian Area Support for Pulmonary Patients is being Hosted at the Fraserburgh United Reformed Church at 7.30pm. Sunday 4th May

The 1st Strichen Rainbows and Strichen Mothers and Toddlers have organised a May Day Bash in the Mormond Inn garden from 1pm. It's a family day out, with live bands, BBQ, kids play area, face painting & glitter tattoos, duck race and various stalls. Kids wristbands cost £5 which gives all day access to the bouncy castles plus a free bottle of juice. Get along for a great day out.

The Blue Light Festival Quiz Night will be held in the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre at 7.30pm. Entry is £10 per team of four.

A Quiz Night in aid of Relay For Life will be held at the Buchanhaven Hearts Club. The event is being organised by the team 'Evelyn's Gladiators'. Entry is £10 for a team of 4. Raffles, home bakes and other activities will be available at the event. Tickets will be available from Oasis Hairdressers, Get Rhythm Music School and Buchanhaven Hearts Club.

The New Deer Show's 'May Dance' is being held on Saturday. There is tractor pulling all day on Saturday and Sunday and then a dance at night with dancing to Crystal Clear.

The Blue Light Festival takes place at Fraserburgh Leisure Centre from 12.30pm. Outside, you'll find all the emergency services, strong men, barbeque and stalls. Inside, there will be entertainment from different groups and many more stalls. Entry is free but donations would be most welcome.

Erica and Neil are having a charity bike ride from Dyce to Peterhead along the railway line in June on the longest day, the 21st. They're fundraising for Anthony Nolan and it's on behalf of Catherine Melrose who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Ongoing Announcements

The Street Pastors initiative in Peterhead has drawn together a team of volunteers to provide a listening ear and practical help to anyone in need in the town centre from 10pm on a Saturday night to 4am on Sunday morning.

Fraserburgh Branch of Aberdeen FC Supporters Club will run buses to every home game from Rosehearty, Fraserburgh, Inverallochy, St Combs and Mintlaw. Please contact Iain on 07919 160371 or email iain196@btinternet.com                            

CLAN - Cancer Link Aberdeen North - offers support through its outreach facilties in Peterhead and Fraserburgh. They are in Fraserburgh at the HUB on a Monday from 10-4pm. Then in Peterhead on a Wedenesday and a Friday at the Hotspot on Kirk Street, Peterhead again from 10-4pm. This is a free service to everyone affected by cancer and provides emotional support, complementary therapies, children and family services and cancer information. Call Ruth on 07720 737500 for further information.

The Breastfeeding support group takes place at Peterhead Maternity Unit every Thursday from 1.30pm-3.00pm. This is an informal group/drop in where advice and support are given with many lifelong friendships made. Come along and enjoy the social aspects of the group. The midwives and breastfeeding volunteers extend a warm welcome.

New members of all ages are being sought for Peterhead Sea Angling Club. The Club meets every second Sunday. For further information, please call 07811 884026.

There will be a weekly nightcap at the Fisherman's Mission on Union Street, Peterhead on Sunday at 8pm, as well as a weekly Ladies Guild every Tuesday from 7.15pm.

Choices Fraserburgh is a crisis pregnancy centre where women and their families can go to obtain free, impartial advice following an unplanned pregnancy. Advice and support is also offered following the loss of a baby.

Clan offers support through its outreach facilities in Peterhead and Fraserburgh. At the drop in centre at the Hot Spot, Peterhead every Monday & Wednesday from 10am to 4pm and at Fraserburgh Hospital every Friday from 1pm to 4pm for Coffee and Talk sessions.
