Events Recap 2015
James Reid is at the All Ford event at the Grampian Transport Museum in Alford interviewing exhibitors and members of the museum team.
Kenny King presents a special Live at The Lido from 6 to 8pm as the Blades Aerobatic Display Team return to Peterhead. Kenny interviewed Tasha the PR Manager for the team live in the studio prior to the event. Former Waves Radio presenter Ritchie Grant guested on the programme and reported live from the Lido.
This years Scottish Week Buchan Queen Shauni Bremner along with Princesses Kimberley Kaminski and Suzanne Walker pay a visit to Waves and go live on the Brekky Thing along with Graham Baron and Karen Day from the S W Committee.
25 years on and Kenny King is back to his roots down the Peterhead Lido for th annual Marinathon interviewing organisers and participants. Weather was awful but the rain did not deter 200 entries. One highlight was talking about the cars flashing down to the little blue shack years ago and when KK asked if anyone was in their cars a few flashed their lights..... magic.
During the 60's On A Sunday Kenny telephones Mark Andrews The Mouth From The South another of the original Waves AM team and remembers the great days back in 1990.
More memories about the old days as KK joins Gordon Bathgate on the 70's Slammer. Goggsie is one of the original team from the Waves AM days.
Celebrating 25 years since the start of the station as Waves AM at Peterhead Lido in 1990. Ritchie Grant joins Kenny King for a nostagic trip remembering not only Waves AM but also Scottish Week during a live interview on the Brekky Thing.
Kenny King's eldest daughter joins dad on air to thankk the listeners for their support over the past 7 years by helping the Wavettes raise £100,000 as part of the Peterhead Cancer Reserarch Relay For Life.
4th - 5th July
Kenny King is back at the Lord Catto Park in Peterhead for the annual Relay For Life event which was marred by rain, rain and more rain but it didn't deter the inthusiasm of the teams. To concide with the activities in the park Waves Radio broadcast through the night from 6am Saturday to 9pm Sunday with the annual Radio Relay. James Reid was at the park on Sunday broadcasting the announcement live on air this years total of £147,848 which was raised.
It's the annual Peterhead Running Festival and James Reid along with Kenny King are at the event interviewing the runners, exhibitors and of course the organisers. A very successful event with record entries on the day.
Short staffed due to illness so Glenn Moir sits in on AM2PM for Brian Daniel a week followed by Eoin Cheyne who returns on daytime as a stand-in presenter.
Kenny King is back in Fraserburgh with the roaving microphone interviewing during one of the very successful Super Saturday events.

First visit of the year from school kids in the area and a group from Fetterangus Primary join us to record material with Glenn Moir for featuring on Making Waves.
Eoin Cheyne presents his final Sportsmix programme as he moves on to a new job out-with radio. He will still be heard for a period on Happening Sunday.
Events Recap 2014
Hogmanay on Waves and following a selection of Fifties Favourites with Alex Cameron Kenny King introduces his Hogmanay Hoot and welcomed in 2015 from 10pm till 1am and the brand new year.
Christmas day and a great selection of programmes were aired which included Alex Cameron on early followed by Kenny's Kristmas Kracker with links across the world. Australia, Siberia and local lads on the Magnus and Forties platforms in the North Sea were included in the 3 hour special. Brian Daniel, Santa and Totally 80's Specials were also aired.
Knny King is out and about again with the roving mike this time at the Buchanhaven Heritage Centre Peterhead as they host a Christmas Fayre. KK spoke live to organisers and participants live on air during Gordon Bathgates 70's Slammer.
Kenny King assisted by Brian Daniel reports with live links and interviews during Fraserburgh's Late Night Shopping Extravaganza which is well attended by young and old from the town and surrounded area. Alex Cameron played the hits and linked it all together during a 2 hour special programme.
Peterhead Harbours Open Day takes place and Kenny King is Doon The Market interviewing and reporting from the event now in it's 20th year. A great event and once again attended by thousands raising cash for the Peterhead Fishermens Mission.
Glenn Moir is down at the Peterhead beach area as part of a special Live @ The Lido during which we were scheduled to broadcast the commentary for the Btades Air Display Team but due to fog the dispay was cancelled at the last minute. Glenn assisted by Graham Barron of Peterhead Scottish Week linked up with Kenny King and interviewd various people attending the evening events.
The King, Queen & Princesses! get together for a blether live on air Kenny is joined in the studio by this years Buchan Queen Natasja Kaminski and princesses Ashley-Mae Stephen and Stacey Robson. The girls are represented Peterhead during the town's annual Scottish Week celebration.
Kenny King is in Fraserburgh with live links during the 70's Slammer with Gordon Bathgate. Interviews from the new S&J Shop in the High Street with the owners, staff and customers was followed by a few links out and about on the streets from the Super Saturday event.
The Skipper of the Inchpincher Chuck Lauwers from Belgium joins Kenny King on the Brekky Thing to thank the Peterhead Lifeboat crew and the Forties Oilfield Radio Ops for their assistance after his yachts mast collapsed 60 miles off Peterhead. He and his crew of 6 are towed into Peterhead safely.
5th & 6th July
The annual Peterhead Relay For Life takes place at the Lord Catto Park and the station once again supports the event by running the Radio Relay and broadcasting live programming from 6am Saturday till 9pm Sunday. All money raised from sponsors of the shows going towards the fight against cancer. Kenny King is @ the event with interviews from those taking part. This year the event raised
£200,280. It was the 9th relay in Peterhead and this years total means an amazing
One Million Forty Two Thousand Seven hundred & Twenty Three Pounds has been raised to date.
A big day in the north east as the Queens Baton comes to the area and on the run up to it's arrival in the Bloo Toon the annual Peterhead Running Festival takes place at the Lord Catto Park with a fantastic response from the public. Kenny King is there interviewing and linking live with Alex Cameron during the 60's On A Sunday. Later in the evening a special live edition of Making Waves is aired with Glenn Moir at Balmoor Stadium interviewing and reporting on the arrival of the Baton.
The cast of ITV's Emmerdale are at Storybook Glen for a Wobbly Day Out raising cash for Funding Neuro and Kenny King & Brian Daniel are on air with links from the event during the day. Interviews with cast members and various organisers and sponsors.
The appeal for a mile of 1 and 2 p coins now sits at an amazing £4,357 and well over the original target set.
It's that time of year for the annual Fraserburgh Vintage Car Show @ The Leisure Centre and on a glorious day weatherwise Kenny King & Brian Daniel are through interviewing exhibitors and spectators on what was the busiest show to date.
Annual Wavettes and Bloo Toon Buddies Relay For Live Golf Day @ Peterhead Golf Course takes place in a bad day of rain but the golfers still went out as did Kenny King who linked from the event during the 60's On A Sunday.
Martyn Smith returns to the station after a couple of years away and sits in for George Walker on the Sunday Sequence.
Mitch Bain returned to the station for a one off show and was "On Air" sitting in for Eoin Cheyne on Happening Sunday.
Glenn Moir joins Kenny King on a Live Link visit to Gray & Adams in Fraserburgh. During the behind the scenes tour of the premises they spoke live on air to Management and staff.
Mile of Pennies campaign breaks through the 3 mile total with 216,750 coins counted.
30th January 2014
First update on the Mile of Pennies campaign and we break go past a mile of both 1p and 2p coins with still loads to count.
Alex Cameron took listeners into 2014 with his Hogmanay Special from 9pm to 1am.
Among the Christmas Day programmes Kenny's Kristmas Kracker which included link ups from Australia and the UK.
Kenny King is at the Masons in Peterhead playing the hits at the Wavette's Christmas Disco assisted by Eoin Cheyne. £2,600 was raised at the event with all the cash going to the Peterhead Relay for Life to help in the fight against cancer. Cracking Night.
Kenny King is at the Fraserburgh Late Night Shpping Event along with Brian Daniel. Although the weather was really bad and it was blowing a gale locals still ventured out even though the main events had to be cancelled. Waves Radio relayed interviews with advertisers and listeners as Alex Cameron played the hits.
Start a campaign assisting the Wavettes go an Extra Mile in the fight against cancer by appealing for 1 and 2p coins. The aim to gather enough to go 1 mile if placed side by side.
Norman McLean makes a return to the station and re-joins as a part time presenter with his first show covering Happening Saturday.
We say Bye Bye to Ishbel who has been with us for 3 years on weekend reception duties. She heads off to University in London.
22nd to 26th August
Glenn Moir sits in for Kenny King on the Breakfast Show and gives away £100 worth of Tesco Vouchers every day. It turns out to be one of the most successful competitions ever with well over 250 entries every day in the competition.
Kenny King and Glenn Moir are at the Tesco supermarket in Fraserburgh chatting to staff and customers live on air. During the 2 hour visit some lucky shoppers received money off cards as they celebrated the new upgrade to the store.
It's the 19th Peterhead Harbour Open Day and for the 10th year in a row Waves Radio is there with live links and interviews from Kenny King & Brian Daniel. Thanks to Bill Mackie Engineering for sponsoring of the Outside Broadcast.
Gavin Sutherland of the Sutherland Brothers pays another visit and joins Kenny King for a chat on the Brekky Thing promoting his album Tango At The Lost Cafe and a forthcoming local Gig.

6th & 7th July
Kenny King is back at the Catto Park in Peterhead this time for the annual Relay For Life supporting the Wavettes and all the other teams taking part in the overnight event. A great time was had by all. KK partcularly liked Monty the snake, the soup and of course the kippers and the weather was excellent. Total raised for cancer research £179,236.04

Glenn Moir reports from Balmoor Stadium during the secong leg of the Division 2 play off between Peterhead and East Fife. The final score Peterhead nil East Fife one.
Its 50 years in operation for Peterheads Anna Ritchie School and Kenny King is invited down to a coffee morning part of the celebrations. He interviewed staff and pupils during his visit.

Kenny King has a visit from a former Waves presenter. Adrian Field after many years pays a visit to the station before heading off to Australia to live. Adrian famous on Waves for the Clean Sweep quiz on a Friday evening when listeners had to guess which song was being played over the noise of a hoover.
James G from Fraserburgh starts a 3 month trial period with the station taking over the Afternoon Hit Mix.
Christina Tatlow moves on after a three month trial period.
Alex Cameron was our first foot at 8am and at midday a New Year Special was aired the "All Time Platinum Artists" introduced by Claire Sturgess.
Hogmanay 31st December
Suzie D presented a mix of Scottish music from 7 to 10pm and then Kenny King took in the New Year till 1am.
The days programming becan with Alex Cameron at 6am then Kenny King linking up with ex pats around the world on his Kracker. Brian Daniel followed and a Special Santa Show and Totally 80's completed the line up.
Friday 30th November
Kenny King along with Brian Daniel are on the streets of Fraserburgh during the towns late shopping and family fun event which saw the streets of the Broch buzzng with various attractions including Santa and a fireworks display.

Tom Macleod presents his final show on the station and heads back to London we at Waves Radio wish him all the best for the future.

The 2nd Peterhead Running Festival & Family Fun Day took place at the Catto Park in Peterhead and Kenny King was there with the roving microphone chatting to organisers sponsors and participants of this excellent day for all the family.
Saturday 11th August
The Bloo Toon was buzzing with the first game of the season when Peterhead played host to The Rangers for their first game in Division 3. The big game did not effect the annual Peterhead Harbour Open Day in aid of the local Royal National Mission For Deep Sea Fishermen. Kenny King interviewed participants and organisers at the event and said a fond farewell to George Power Superintendent who is retiring and his deputy Paul Govier who is also leaving the area. A great day was had by all and loads of money was raised.
Saturday 28th July
Kenny King interviews Mke Ling who is Red 10 the coordinator of the world famous Red Arrows. He came into the studio prior to their display as part of Peterhead Scottish Week. Following the interview Kenny presented a one hour Red Arrows Special and linked up with Red 10 broadcasting his commentary as the team flew over Peterhead. The atmosphere from the Lido was completed with various interviews from Graham Baron ex Scottish Week Chairman and former presenter on the station.
Monday 23rd July
Kenny King and Brian Daniel went Live @The Lido in Peterhead for the 6th Marinathon. As part to Peterhead Scottish Week interviews with Sponsors , competitors and organisers went out live on air from 6 to 8pm. A very well attended night.
Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th July
The station once again this year went through the night broadcasting from 0600 on Saturday to 2100 Sunday with sponsored live shows with all the cash donated to the Peterhead Relay For Life event via our charity team The Wavettes. The team this year have raised £17,000 to help in the fight against cancer. The Radio Relay compliments the main event in the Catto Park.
Saturday 9th June
Emmerdale Grampian Country Fair @ Fyvie Castle attended and enjoyed by thousands. During the event Kenny King and Brian Daniel interviewed the cast of the ITV soap plus exhibitors and members of the public. Truly a memorable day for our competition winner Wendy Del Testa and her mum who won a competition on the station to meet with our friends from Emmerdale

During the 60's On A Sunday Kenny King & Brian Daniel are interviewing participants and members of the public at the annual Fraserburgh Vintage Car Rally.A superb day with thousands turning up to the event.
Sunday 20th May
Kenny King joins the Wavettes & Bloo Toon Buddie at the Peterhead Golf Club for their 2nd Golf & Family Fun Day. Interviewing various people including entrants to the Golf competition. A rotal of £8309.27 was rasied by the event and going to Cancer Research Relay For Life.

Pollard in Peterhead. Yes the likable rogue of Emmerdale Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) pays another visit to Waves Radio. This time to promote the forthcoming Gampian Country Fair on Saturday 9th June at Fyvie Castle. He joined Kenny King on the Brekky Thing and chatted about his career and the forthcoming event. George Walker joined in to give further info on the event.
Wednesday 25th January
As Scots everywhere celebrated the birthday of Robbie Burns, Glenn Moir paid a visit to Peterhead Central School to hear the thoughts of the kids as they have haggis for lunch. Linking with Brian Daniel on AM2PM pupils had the opportunity to recite a few poems live on air.

Kenny King was finding out about keeping fit by interviewing competitors and exhibitors at the first Peterhead Running Festival at the Catto Park with all profit going to the Spina Bifida Association. Kids and adults took part in various sporting activities.

Waves attended and reported from the annual Peterhead Harbours Open Day with sponsored links courtesy of Bill Mackie Engineering. Brian Daniel interviewed organisers and participants in this very successful event raising funds for the Royal National Mission For Deep Sea Fishermen.
Sunday 17th July
Kenny King finally successfully fulfills a dream by starting a week long broadcast from the North Sea aboard the MV Scotia 2 celebrating 21 years since the radio station began as an RSL Waves AM from the Little Blue Shack at the Lido in Peterhead. All programming came from the ship and included an exclusive link with the world famouse Red Arrows Air Display Team the main attraction during Peterhead's 50th Scottish Week.
Celebrating 21 years and saluting the pioneers of commercial radio the offshore stations of the past.
Kenny's only disappointment was due to bad sea conditions not being able to sail up the coast to Fraserburgh to thank the Brochers for their support over the years .
Saturday 9th July
To complement the annual Cancer Research Relay For Life in Peterhead over the weekend Waves Radio presented another successful Radio Relay with live programming from Friday 6am to Sunday 9pm raising over £2000. The money was passed to the official fundraising team The Wavettes bringing this years total to over £22,000. Thanks to all advertisers and well done to the Wavettes. Kenny King and the team reported regularly live on air during the relay itself from the Lord Catto Park.
On Saturday 12th June the cast of ITV's Emmerdale returned to the North East raising cash for the Anthony Nolan Trust The Grampian Country Fair took place at B & A Country Store, Lyne of Skene.
Waves Radio as the official radio station for the event was there bringing you the atmosphere of the extravaganza with reports and interviews from Kenny King, Brian Daniel and Craig Scott with cast members and exhibitors.

With fun for all the family this yearly event is in it's 19th year and we look forward to next years 20th anniversary event.

On Saturday 3rd April Brian Daniel and Glenn Moir were joined on the air by snooker legend Steve Davis when he played members of the public at a charity event at Thistle Windows Bridge of Don Aberdeen. All money raised at the event went to the Anchor Unit at ARI.
