GENERAL GOSSIP

By winning this week on Waves Radio you can go bowling or eat out or even party the night away with great 70's tribute acts at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre. Also up for grabs this week various CD Albums

Sunday the 13th April was the last day for Mitch Bain's sidekick Neil Sievwright we wish him all the best for the future. Starting with the team as from Friday 18th Craig Scott answering your calls and assisting behind the scenes.

The MacDonald Brothers payed us a visit on Sunday 23rd March and were live on air with Mitch Bain. Five lucky listeners won signed copies of their new album "With Love".

Waves Radio has been approached by members of the Peterhead Scottish Week committee inviting the station to get involved with the event this year.

Following meetings with committee members the station will be assisting with promotion and events. Stay tuned for further information and updates.

Seven lucky Waves Radio listeners recently won tickets to see the X Factor Show at the AECC with two also meeting the stars of the show courtesy of the Car Phone Warehouse.

 

HUNGRY FOR SUCCESS

Following last years very successful competition to encourage healthy eating the areas primary school youngsters once again competed to win the chance of having their ideas produced and aired on Waves Radio. In association with Aberdeenshire Council the station will be running the winning entries for the " Hungry for Success" competition following the Easter break.

This years winners were:-

Fetterangus, Boddam,  Monquhitter and Skene Schools.

WAVES EXCLUSIVE

The first and only station to play "Ladies from Hell prior to release

Following Kenny King supporting and interviewing Terry Moore the man who wrote" Ladies From Hell" the station has been inundated with requests from listeners pre-ordering the single. In four days three hundred copies have been purchased and we wish Terry every success with the song.Information on terry and future releases will be announced as we receive it.

 

FRASERBURGH VINTAGE CAR RALLY 2008

The 1st of June is the date for the above popular attraction and Waves Radio will be there live to bring you the highlights of the show.

 10 YEARS ON AND STILL GOING STRONG

Waves Radio was 10 years old on Thursday 6th December and we gave away 10 DAB Radios ( 1 per hour).

KICK INTO CHRISTMAS

Waves Radio kicked into Christmas with ASDA Peterhead when the station link up live from the store for three hours on Friday 30th November with Kenny King and Brian Daniel interviewing staff and finding out what was "in store" on the run up to the festivities.

KIDS IN NEED IN THE BROCH AND PETERHEED

In association with the Palace Hotel Peterhead our on air Charity Auction on Friday 23rd November helped raise £2,866 which will be shared between Westfield School Fraserburgh and Peterhead Maternity Unit.

Thanks to all who donated items and those who placed bids.

 

Over a period of a few months Merry Media moved from region to region across the UK to find the best Breakfast and Drivetime shows on the radio and Kenny King's Brekky Thing came third in the North of Scotland Section.

Only 1 vote seperated the second and third positions.Top two positions went to stations in Dundee.Votes came from within the radio industry as well as businesses and listeners.We are delighted as no mention of this poll was given on air,on website or any other medium.

Unfortunatly no entry was taken from Waves Radio for Drivetime.

WILD WASTE DAY

The organisers of this years Wild West Day at Haddo House were delighted with the turn out to the event on May Day Holiday Monday with thousands flocking to the event. It was estimated that this year attendance was double that of the previous year. Brian Daniel and Martyn Smith were broadcasting live from the event during the day.

Waves Radio teamed up with Sunsilk giving listeners the chance to win tickets for the Girls Aloud concert at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on the 15th May. All winners and a friend got the opportunity to meet the girls and receive a years supply of Sunsilk.

There were 8 lucky winners and going by the feedback to the station it was a "BRILLIANT NIGHT"

 

All  records were broken as regards competition entries on Waves Radio on the Brekky Thing for the week of 26th to 30th March inclusive as a total of 1,273 entrants took part in the daily Justrite/Excell Intersports Football Week.The daily prizes of the new Scotland away shirt and footballs were up for grabs.Congratulations to all our winners.

 

EMMERDALE EXTRAVAGANZA

The famous Emmerdale Extravaganza took place on Saturday 9th June at the Exhibition and Conference Centre,Bridge of Don Aberdeen. The new venue in the city drew even bigger crowds than the previous year at Inchmarlo Golf Centre in Banchory.

Waves Radio were once again broadcasting live from the event with Brian Daniel and Gordon Bathgate interviewing the stars of Emmerdale, fund raiser, exhibitors and the general public.
